JUNE & JULIAN FOSS FOUNDATION
How to Apply
If our current grant period is open, you can complete the June & Julian Foss Foundation online Eligibility Quiz and know immediately whether you qualify to apply for a grant with the Foss Foundation.
To do this, follow the Eligibility Quiz link on our home page (during our open application periods) and complete the one-page form. If you qualify, you will immediately be able to proceed to our online LOI There is a link on the LOI page that will allow you to print a copy of it, formatted for 8.5" x 11" paper so that you can research the answers offline. You may wish to bookmark the LOI page so that you can quickly and easily return and finish filling out the online LOI.
Please do not send us paper documents related to your Grant Inquiry. In order to increase efficiency and save money on application processing (and therefore have more money to give away in grants) we are attempting to dispense with as much manual processing of paper documents as possible so, LOIs and Grant Applications may only be submitted via our online method.
Grant Cycle Dates and Process
- Each year our grant cycle begins on November 1, at which time we start accepting LOIs for the coming year. We stop accepting new LOIs the first week in January.
- We then spend the next 2 months evaluating the new LOIs, and around the beginning of March we will send an email request for a full Grant Application to each agency whose LOI passed our initial review.
- We need those Grant Applications to be completed by the beginning of April.
- Between April 1st and June 15th, full Grant Applications are reviewed by Board members to determine whether they fit our criteria. Once Foundation members have indicated their ability to do site visits, all Grant Applicants will be notified either that they will receive a site visit or that they are no longer eligible for this Grant Cycle. A member of the Foundation will contact each eligible organization to arrange for a site visit. Site visits are very important to us so, with very few exceptions, no site visit means no grant.
- We then meet during July or August to decide on final grant awards. We notify all applicants in September of the results.
- Checks are sent out before the end of October.
- If you receive a grant from us you should receive an email request for a grant follow-up report sometime in August of the following year. Please complete this report in a timely fashion. Completion of this report is required for you to be considered for any future grants.
